Visualisation projects: Public Address

Public Address have had Keith Ng do some visualisation work for them on today’s budget. Like the work down by the NZ Hearld, it allows people to look at the governments budget over all, as well as individual parts of departmental budgets. The main difference between the Herald and Public Address’s work is that Public Address colour codes each part of the budget based on how much of an increase of decrease it has had vs last year, or if it is new spending. There are also graphs associated with each item to show how their funding has trended over a number of years. Once again, this helps to make the whole budget more relevant to the average person.

Visualisation technology is always changing and improving, it is great to see it being used more and more. However, it shouldn’t be left to the media and bloggers.
